Presenter:
Eric A. Teske, Selvaggio, Teske & Associates

Robert Gavin, CPCU, ARM, AIC, Selvaggio, Teske & Associates

Utilizing the interactive Harvard Case Study method with an actual professional liability case involving lack of coordination between the architect and structural enginner as the basis of discussion, participants analyze a situation, identify the problems, and develop remedies

.

Disciplines: Architecture firm and its subconsultant structural engineer

Project Type:  Church renovation and expansion.

Description: Poor coordination between project manager and the structural engineer results in a design that can't be constructed. The contractor works with another engineer to move the project forward. When the contractor removes the shoring from the free-span ceiling, the roof drops several inches and causes an outward deflection on the beams. Accusations fly and experts opine.
